AS Lighting Practice Task
Lighting
- Auto-focus will adjust to changing light (can cause grainy shots)
- Aperture settings - let more or less light in
- Big changes in natural lighting can impact continuity
- Time of day to shoot
- Lack of consideration of lighting can make adverts appear unrealistic
3-Point Fill Lighting
- Key Light
- Fill Light
- Back Light
Chiaroscuro Lighting
Harsh lighting that creates extreme contrasts between different areas of the shot (character's face). It can be used with colour but also black and white for a different feel.
High Key Lighting - harsh, bright lights to reduce contrast in a scene, a white-washed clean look with no shadow
Low Key Lighting - creating shadows and contrast between colours to create atmosphere, it is about mystery and drama
Natural Lighting - coming from the sun, but can also refer to a light source that has a light yellow or white hue
Backlighting - the scene is lit directly from behind, usually by natural light, where it is used to create a silhouette
Artificial Lighting - comes from intentionally man-made light source, such as light bulbs or fluorescent lights (blue-grey, yellow-orange)
